Hi guys, how are you? Today we will talk about the real-life challenges that often occur in the Scrum Team. Are you ready? Let’s get started.
Developers have been approaching the Scrum Master, to complain about 1 developer. He is the most experienced in the product they are building. He often questions the choices team members make in design and architecture. This behavior making other developers feel bad. So, what do you think how can SM address this problem?
SM suggests helping developers to self-manage. And if requested SM could facilitate a session with the whole team to help resolve the issue.
This is now all the Scrum Master can do. SM observes whether this topic will be at the upcoming Sprint Retrospective. This is because Sprint Retrospective focuses on the process. To be specific, people, processes, and tools.
There could be a case the Scrum Team does not raise this topic at the Sprint Retrospective. If that happens, he should check with the team how comfortable they are with the way the development is being handled.
Let me give you an explanation for this. Conflicts are a natural occurrence. And the Scrum Master coaches the Developers on the value of resolving conflicts. Leaving conflicts unresolved can impact the Scrum Values of openness and respect. Diminishing trust. Lower trust will impact the Scrum team’s effectiveness. And can cause impediments in the future. Removal of impediments is the responsibility of the Scrum Master. He should lead the team through conflict resolution and facilitation.
This team has one more problem which is Intellectual Violence. When someone who understands processes or technology, uses this knowledge to intimidate others. Especially in a meeting situation. As you might imagine, behaviors like this can cause team members to feel unappreciated and unimportant. Which leads to…
